Unibet Group takes over iGame Holding
August, 16th 2015
The Unibet Group has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in the iGame Holding. This deal is expected to support the Unibet Group in meeting the requirements for larger markets. In detail, this means that Unibet now has a direct line to the Nordic countries and Central Europe, the territory in which the iGame group has seven local brands offering online casino, poker and sports betting. The transaction will not be official until the approval process completed. This is expected to happen in the third quarter of 2015. It is the right time for Unibet setting the right strategy as there are re-regulations happening in the Nordic markets within the next years. The buying price of EUR 59 millions is going to be paid in cash upon completion.
Malta-based iGame wants to keep the 130 employees under the same management, the current CEO Tommi Maijala. With him they want to implement the business plan within the next three years.
This agreement will allow a broader product portfolio and efficient marketing. Unibets CEO Henrik Tjärnström explains that both iGame brands are well known in their local markets and he sees great potential by combining the two markets, especially in the mobile sector and product expertise with local focus.
