Mobile Friendly Sites are ranked better – what impact will this have on online casinos?
7 April 2015
In November 2014, Google announced that it will very soon implement substantial changes with regards to search queries. In the ranking of the search results it should be considered whether each page is optimized for mobile phones and tablets or not. This change will affect not only special on-line casinos but also the entire online community as a whole. As of April 21, 2015 Google will assess the mobile friendliness as one of the factors that determines the ranking of a website. According to Google, the easiest way to check if a website is mobile friendly is to check it from a cell phone! If a grey “mobile-friendly” icon appears on your site then this is the case and everything is ok.
If a site is not “mobile-friendly” by 21 April, then it will appear lower in the SERPs according to Google – SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page, these are the results of the search for key words that can be entered in the Google search engine. There will be no different degrees of mobile-friendliness; either a website is mobile friendly or not.
This step will dramatically affect the online casinos. It means that when potential players are looking for online casinos on Google, it is only those that are shown at the forward position that are mobile friendly. If this is not the case, then the site is easy to slip far back in the search results. Google has revealed its criteria for the mobile-friendly marking sites and the object of the casinos will be to meet these guidelines. Google also has a detailed list of errors that are responsible for ensuring that a website is not responsive, that is not suitable for mobile. It is the task of online casinos now to seek their websites in this sense, to improve them.
